Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart – Where are GLADIATOR II and VENOM: THE LAST DANCE?

The Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart includes any film more than six weeks from release, registering at least 1% unaided awareness (UA). This metric is highly correlated to opening weekend gross. Early signs of UA more than six weeks out often translate to box office success upon release.

Last week, MOANA 2 skyrocketed from 3% to 8%. This week, it corrected a bit, slipping back to 5%. Still, it’s clear that there is high anticipation for this film.

Last week, we also saw the return of MUFASA: THE LION KING. In a good sign, it stayed on the chart for a second week despite slipping from 2% to 1%. It’s also nice to see SNOW WHITE hanging on again.

In an otherwise quiet week, the biggest stories may not be about the films on the chart but those that are not. GLADIATOR II has been below 1% for two weeks in a row after charting for five consecutive weeks from mid-July through mid-August.

VENOM: THE LAST DANCE is also below 1% for another week. It charted nine weeks in a row, though it’s been hit or miss since late July.

These don’t necessarily spell disaster for these films. But they do suggest that these campaigns will need some extra juice to get back above 1%.

Elsewhere, BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE scored the highest unaided of the week at 11%, 1% higher than DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE at the same distance from release. THE CROW and BLINK TWICE arrive in theaters with 3% unaided.
