Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart – BEETLEJUICE Soars, THE CROW Debuts, ALIEN: ROMULUS Does Not.

The Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart includes any film more than six weeks from release, registering at least 1% unaided awareness (UA). This metric is highly correlated to opening weekend gross. Early signs of UA more than six weeks out often translate to box office success upon release.

The power of a trailer. We’ve seen it over and over again. A studio releases a trailer, and a week later, the film appears on the unaided awareness chart. Last week, we got our first look at BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE, and, as expected, unaided for the film, rocketed from 1% to 5%. BAD BOYS 4 got a similar boost, jumping from 1% to 3%.

This week, we welcome THE CROW to the chart for the first time. It makes its debut two weeks after the release of its trailer. Unfortunately, the trailer for ALIEN: ROMULUS was not enough to list the film above 1% unaided. As we saw with THE CROW, sometimes it takes two weeks for unaided to build.

Elsewhere, it was a good week across the board, with several films registering at least 1% unaided after temporarily falling off the chart. We welcome DESPICABLE ME 4, TWISTERS, and WICKED back to the chart.

This week, GODZILLA X KONG: THE NEW EMPIRE scored the highest unaided of all films, rising from 6% to 10%. That tied it with DUNE: PART 2, which also had 10% on its day of release.
