The Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart includes any film more than six weeks from release, registering at least 1% unaided awareness (UA). This metric is highly correlated to opening weekend gross. Early signs of UA more than six weeks out often translate to box office success upon release.
Last week, we lamented the extended absence of GLADIATOR II and VENOM: THE LAST DANCE. Well, fast-forward a week, and both have returned to the Weekly Unaided Awareness chart—though just barely. Both films narrowly crossed the 1% threshold to qualify for the chart. Hopefully, this is the start of an extended run for both films.
Two films are new this week. SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 returns to the chart for the first time since early May with an impressive 2% unaided. And KRAVEN THE HUNTER makes its chart debut at 1%. Both benefitted from the release of trailers.
After sliding back from 8% to 5% last week, MOANA 2 settles in at 5% for a second week. It still has the highest unaided on the chart.
Elsewhere, once again, BEETLEJUICE BEETLEJUICE scored the highest unaided of the week at 13%. That is the third highest unaided for a film a week away from release behind BARBIE (25%) and DEADPOOL & WOLVERINE (14%). Neither 1992 nor AFRAID registered unaided above 1% on the week of release.
