Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart – A MINECRAFT MOVIE Makes A Splash Six Months Before Release.

The Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart includes any film more than six weeks from release, registering at least 1% unaided awareness (UA). This metric is highly correlated to opening weekend gross. Early signs of UA more than six weeks out often translate to box office success upon release.

As we noted last week, the first trailer for A MINECRAFT MOVIE was met with harsh criticism from some corners of the social sphere. Perhaps there’s no such thing as bad publicity because when we look at the data, MINECRAFT doesn’t look so bad. It arrives on the Weekly Unaided Awareness Chart at 2% on the heels of that trailer.

Meanwhile, in the November 22nd battle between WICKED and GLADIATOR II, the former has the clear edge. At least when it comes to unaided. Having said that, GLADIATOR wasn’t plastered all over the Olympics, so we would expect WICKED to have the edge. This will be a fun battle to watch now that they’re both just over two months away from release.

Elsewhere, JOKER: FOLIE A DEUX topped the chart with a solid, though not huge, 6% unaided. SPEAK NO EVIL arrived in theaters with 3%, and THE KILLERS GAME landed with 1%.
