ICYMI, HOTEL TRANSYLVANIA: TRANSFORMANIA has just been sold to Amazon for a reported $100M. Perhaps that’s not surprising, given the value proposition for family films at home. It’s much cheaper to subscribe to Amazon Prime than spend $8-$12 per family member to see it in a theater.
As a result, Amazon is having a moment. With CINDERELLA, it now has two films in the top 10 on the awareness chart. Of the 76 upcoming releases being tracked by The Quorum, HOTEL ranks 8th. CINDERELLA is right behind at #10. Not bad.
Bottom line, with HOTEL, Amazon inherits a movie with tons of built-in awareness.
