It’s unaided because we don’t provide a list of films, artwork, or descriptions. The respondents have to know about the film on their own. Unaided awareness is highly correlated to box office performance. The thinking goes that if someone can name a film off the top of their head, chances are they want to see it. Because it is unaided, the numbers tend to be small but mighty.

It might be time to welcome THE FANTASTIC FOUR: FIRST STEPS to the big leagues. On the heels of a marketing blitz, unaided jumped from 3% to 5%. That puts it in line with JURASSIC WORLD: REBIRTH and SUPERMAN. The big difference, of course, is that JURASSIC and SUPERMAN have been at this level for several months.

Aside from that, everything stayed the same as last week, except FREAKIER FRIDAY, which is no longer above the Bubbling Under threshold of 0.75%.

HOW TO TRAIN YOUR DRAGON is spending its last week on the chart, ending its run at 2%. That’s a strong number for a family film. Both MUFASA: THE LION KING and SONIC THE HEDGEHOG 3 stood at 2% seven weeks out. In case you’re curious, MOANA 2 holds the record for the highest unaided awareness for an animated or family film, with 6% entering the final six-week stretch.

Elsewhere, THUNDERBOLTS* is tops this week with 10% unaided. That is in line with FIVE NIGHTS AT FREDDY’S and GLADIATOR 2 at one week out. THE ACCOUNTANT 2 ended its run at 7%, and UNTIL DAWN reached 3%.
