New to The Quorum: SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE – PART ONE

Usually, films are added to The Quorum once they are within six months of release, though some larger movies are added before then. Case in point SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE – PART ONE, which doesn’t arrive in theaters until October of 2022. ACROSS was added to The Quorum yesterday thanks to a trailer released over the weekend.

First, let’s just say that it’s rather exhausting typing out the title of this film. The only thing worse would be if it were called SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE MAD, MAD, MAD, MAD SPIDER-VERSE – PART ONE.

Second, ACROSS arrives on The Quorum with a bang. As you can see below, it debuts on the awareness chart at #2 behind, you guessed it, SPIDER-MAN: NO WAY HOME. To be fair, at this point, it is reasonable to think that some respondents are confusing the two films. That may be an ongoing problem for the next couple of months until HOME cycles through and completes its theatrical run.

Having said that, ACROSS is the follow-up to the hugely popular SPIDER-MAN: INTO THE SPIDER-VERSE. That film beat out THE INCREDIBLES 2 and ISLE OF DOGS to win the Academy Award for Best Animated Feature in 2018. It was produced by the team of Phil Lord & Christopher Miller, two of the more beloved filmmakers around, and it was a beacon for diversity and inclusion. So, it’s fair to say that the sequel would have its own elevated level of awareness.

Regardless of how much ACROSS is riding the coattails of the upcoming home, it’s clear that ACROSS will reside in the top 10 of awareness (and interest) until it arrives next October. So, this Monday morning, to SPIDER-MAN: ACROSS THE SPIDER-VERSE – PART ONE, welcome to The Quorum
